First Nations Executive Education congratulates Francis Verreault-Paul on his appointment as Chief of the Assembly of First Nations Quebec-Labrador (AFNQL). This leadership transition marks a significant milestone for the 43 member communities, who will continue their work in advancing the rights and aspirations of First Nations.
Since our launch in 2021, we have had the privilege of collaborating with APNQL to strenghten Indigenous leadership and self-determination of communities. We also wish to acknowledge the remarkable dedication and work of Ghislain Picard, who devoted 33 years to defending the interests of the 10 Nations and supported FNEE from its inception.
We would like to recognize the outstanding candidates who participated in the leadership race:
- Constant Awashish, Grand Chief of the Council of the Atikamekw Nation
- Monik Kistabish, former Chief of the Abitibiwinni First Nation of Pikogan
- Cathy Martin, elected to the Mi’kmaq Council of Listuguj
We look forward to continuing our collaboration with AFNQL and working together to strengthen the skills and impact of First Nations leaders.
