During FNEE’s 3rd Anniversary Graduation Ceremony, on November 15, Ghislain Picard, Chief of the Assembly of First Nations Quebec-Labrador, paid tribute to a man whose legacy continues to shape the nation—the Honourable Murray Sinclair.

The Honourable Murray Sinclair, as Chair of the Truth and Reconciliation Commission of Canada, led with unparalleled courage and vision. His unwavering dedication to truth, justice, and healing not only guided the Commission but also left an indelible mark on Canada’s history.

Through his leadership, the voices of Survivors were honoured, their stories preserved, and the truth about residential schools brought to light for the education and awareness of future generations. His work goes far beyond the creation of a report; it is a call to action through the 94 Calls to Action, offering an enduring blueprint for justice and reconciliation.

These Calls to Action are not merely recommendations; they are a legacy—a challenge for every Canadian to acknowledge our shared history and commit to the transformative journey of reconciliation. Justice Sinclair has given us a powerful mandate: to build a more inclusive and just future, rooted in understanding, respect, and the pursuit of healing.

Justice Sinclair’s words resonate deeply:

“It’s education that got us into this mess, and education is what will get us out of it.”
