Last 14 and 15 November, First Nations Executive Education celebrated its 3rd anniversary. A large audience gathered at the HEC Montréal Hélène Desmarais building in downtown Montreal to mark this new milestone. Over 100 certificates were awarded to participants, proudly recognizing 9 cohorts from the school’s 5 regular programs: Governance, Entrepreneurship, Management, Women Leadership and Economic Reconciliation.
Celebrating a unique school
Ghislain Picard, Chief of the Assembly of First Nations of Quebec-Labrador, is convinced: ‘FNEE continues to be a model of excellence, inspiring First Nations to exercise their self-determination through education and training’. In just three years, the school has become a leading reference in executive education for Indigenous Peoples. This success is based on programs designed to meet the needs of First Nations, co-constructed and run by pairs of Indigenous facilitators and professors from HEC Montréal.
Celebrating First Nations leaders
Since November 2021, FNEE has trained over 800 people in some forty training courses. The two-day celebration was designed to bring the alumni community together around interactive workshops and inspiring lectures, while also encouraging networking moments to strengthen the bonds that unite FNEE participants. In a packed amphitheatre, the graduation ceremony honoured the class of 2023-2024 and its 150 participants.
As Jolianne Ottawa, former participant, EDPN trainer and health director for the Manawan community, points out:
“FNEE has brought back a space of gathering between Nations.”
