Last week, 24 young Indigenous leaders gathered in Gatineau for four days of learning and exchange. Together, they focused on sharing knowledge and strengthening their capacity for the opportunities and challenges ahead. Through this training, young leaders are equipped with tools to grow their leadership and blaze their own trail.
Day 1: October 20, 2025
The Next Generation program cohort began its journey alongside instructors Jolianne Ottawa and Ian Picard. On the first day, participants had the honour of visiting the Senate and meeting Senator Michèle Audette, who shared her inspiring journey as an Indigenous representative, followed by an engaging Q&A session.

Day 2: October 21, 2025
On the 2nd day, participant had the opportunity to attend Question Period at Parliament, followed by an inspiring meeting with The Honourable Mandy Gull-Masty, Canada’s Minister of Indigenous Services.

Day 3: October 22, 2025
The third training day featured a full agenda focused on communication and networking led by Brigitte Skeene and Jay Launière-Mathias. Participants took part in an immersive workshop with La Presse, followed by insights into the journey of creative entrepreneur Xavier Watso. The day concluded with a networking activity and a photo session to capture the experience.

Day 4: October 23, 2025
The jouney ended with the closing ceremerony, led by Elder Fred McGregor, for the 2nd cohort of the Next generation program.
